Trauma Therapy for Adults Who Want to Feel Present In Their Own Lives

From the outside, you may look like you have it together, but once you're home, you have little left to give for yourself, your goals, and the people you care about. Do you feel like this, but have been unable to change it?

I’m Dr. Maria Niitepold, a licensed psychologist and Marine veteran offering in-person trauma therapy in Pensacola, FL. At Hayfield Healing, I work with adults who are insightful and capable, yet haven't been able to feel a meaningful shift in their therapy work yet.

Whether you're navigating a high-pressure legal, medical, or corporate career, the weight of military life near NAS Pensacola, or the quiet exhaustion of past neglect and abuse, don't carry it all alone. I work primarily in EMDR, Brainspotting, and CRM, all body-based approaches to help you heal at the deepest level.

Is This You? Let's Talk.

Who finds their way here

Trauma Therapy for Professionals, Veterans, Military Families, and Other Adults In Pensacola, FL

Many in the Pensacola area work in industries like healthcare, law, or military service where staying composed now matter what is expected. Unfortunately, you can't out-work or out-think a dysregulated nervous system. If you're functioning well on the outside but running on empty underneath, you've come to the right place. The trauma therapy services offered at Hayfield Healing will help you to stop surviving and actually start feeling like yourself again.

This practice is for adults who carry more than their share: professionals, caregivers, veterans, and high-achievers who are tired of white-knuckling through life. Your therapy sessions give you time to process traumatic experiences and unhelpful belief systems you have as a result of your past. Together, we heal your body from past trauma and help you shape a new sense of confidence and self-worth.

We welcome adults in Pensacola from all backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, immigrants, and first-generation Americans. You don't need to prove yourself or fully remember to heal. You also don't need to share details that you're not comfortable sharing.

Hayfield Healing Office Exterior Near Pensacola, FL

My main office is located just few minutes east of the Pensacola Bay Bridge in a quiet professional building in Gulf Breeze. From Pensacola, you are crossing the bridge and heading east along the Parkway. The drive is easy and the parking is free. I serve Pensacola, Navarre, Pace, Milton, Destin, Santa Rosa, Fort Walton Beach, and other nearby communities with in-person trauma therapy.

No fighting traffic on Palafox or searching for parking downtown. This is not a waiting room full of people. It is a small, private office in a low-key building. If you don't live on the Emerald Coast, I also serve Central Florida and South Florida, including Miami, Coral Gables, Boca Raton, and Naples, via telehealth.

Local Resources To Support You

Additional Mental Health Support In Pensacola

  • Bayview Park – Set along Bayou Texar in East Hill, Bayview Park offers waterfront views, open green space, and walking paths. It can be a peaceful place for an unhurried walk or a few quiet minutes near the water to let yourself settle.

  • Tarkiln Bayou Preserve State Park – One of my favorite places in Pensacola, Tarkiln Bayou has a short boardwalk leading through wetlands and native pitcher plant habitat. The slower pace and natural sounds are great when you need to pause and reset.

  • 211 Northwest Florida – A free, confidential resource that connects people with local mental health services and other community programs.

  • Lakeview Center Mobile Response Team – Provides 24/7 crisis support for children, teenagers, and adults experiencing an acute mental health crisis.

  • FavorHouse of Northwest Florida – The certified domestic violence center serving Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. FavorHouse offers confidential safety planning, emergency shelter, court advocacy, and other support programs.

  • Florida Veterans Support Line – Veterans and their families can reach out for additional support and resources.

You Don’t Have to Keep Carrying This Alone

The work that changes things does not start with having it all figured out. It starts with one conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions

MY PENSACOLA CLIENTS ASK

More on trauma therapy

Do you offer in-person trauma therapy in Pensacola?

Yes. I provide in-person trauma therapy at 3000 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Suite 19. The office serves clients from Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Navarre, Pace, Milton, Pensacola Beach, and surrounding communities.

Do you work with veterans and military families?

Yes. I work with veterans, service members, adult military spouses and partners, and adult children of service members. As a Marine veteran, I understand aspects of military culture, identity, separation, and reintegration that can be difficult to explain to a civilian provider.

What trauma therapy approaches do you use?

My primary modalities are EMDR, Brainspotting, and the Comprehensive Resource Model. Each approach works somewhat differently, but all can help reach trauma responses and nervous system patterns that may not change through insight or talk therapy alone. I will help determine which approach best fits your history, symptoms, and capacity for processing.

Do I need to choose between EMDR, CRM, and Brainspotting?

No. We'll discuss your concerns, history, and preferences before choosing an approach. You're welcome to ask about the evidence, possible discomforts, and alternatives for any method I recommend.

Will I have to describe everything that happened to me?

No. You are always in control of what you share. I can support you through trauma processing without needed to know all the details.

Can we discuss privacy before I decide to start?

Of course. I'm fully open about how records, communication, and confidentiality are handled, including the limits of confidentiality. You deserve clear information.

What if previous therapy didn't fully work?

Tell me what helped and what remains difficult. We can explore whether a more body-focused approach would fit your goals. You don't have to dismiss your previous progress to consider a different way of working.

Is virtual trauma therapy available if I do not live near Gulf Breeze?

Yes. I offer online therapy throughout Florida and New York and in participating PSYPACT states. During the consultation, we can confirm whether I am authorized to work with you in your location and whether virtual trauma therapy is an appropriate fit.

What are your fees and insurance options?

I accept private pay nationwide and VA Community Care in Florida. For all other insurance, I operate as an out-of-network provider and can provide superbills for reimbursement. Learn more about my out-of-pocket fees here.
